Long-Term Substitute Teacher - Upper School Mathematics (Fall 2025)
Porter-Gaud School is an Episcopal, independent, coeducational day school of 1,650 students in preschool through grade 12. The School is seeking a Long-Term Substitute for Upper School Mathematics for family leave during the Fall Semester (August 2025 - December 2025)
The Long-Term Substitute Teacher for Upper School Mathematics will be responsible for teaching 5 courses which may vary from Algebra 1 - Precalculus in accordance with the content and objectives of the curriculum prescribed by the Upper School division. This position will supervise students in academic classes and will also maintain a study hall and a homeroom. This position will also demonstrate a commitment to the wellbeing of all Porter-Gaud students and to the best interests of the school as a whole.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Instructs students in mathematics courses in accordance with curriculum requirements and objectives, making effective use of technology, textbooks, and other instructional materials as appropriate.
- Establishes and actively maintains a class environment where excellence in learning is honored and where respectful interactions between and among students are valued.
- Works with students to develop a love for learning, a sense of academic integrity, and a thoughtful work ethic.
- Inspires a love of and appreciation for math in our students.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and assessments which address multiple learning styles.
- Participates as an active team member within the Mathematics Department, the Upper School faculty, and the school community as a whole.
Minimum Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with a degree or certification in the field Mathematics or Mathematics Education
- Experience teaching high school algebra, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, statistics and/or college level statistics

Reporting: The Long-Term Substitute Teacher - Upper School Mathematics will report directly to the Head of Upper School and will take direction from the Mathematics Department Chair.
Salary: Daily rate, commensurate with experience.
