POSITION SUMMARY
The Crisis Stabilization Technician (Milieu Specialist) functions as a leader in providing de-escalation and support strategies to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment. The Crisis Stabilization Technician also provides effective support to facilitate improvement in client functioning level in a Crisis Stabilization Unit operated by a Community Mental Health Center (CMHC). The Crisis Stabilization Technician must be able to work various shifts.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions :
Assists with admissions, discharges and transfers of individuals
Conducts ongoing observation of individuals for the purpose of reporting any significant changes, including close observation
Responds quickly to critical situations that may require restrictive interventions
Performs room safety checks, insuring that individuals are safe from potentially dangerous objects
Monitors behavioral interventions / close observations
Reports and confers with supervisor on changes in client behavior
Prepares paperwork and other documentation as required
Communicates and documents critical incidents to supervisors
Implements, evaluates and document specific interventions that are utilized to provide client safety
Non-Essential Functions :
Provides verbal de-escalation to clients
Assists clients with personal hygiene and meals
Maintains and assures client confidentiality
Interacts in a supportive manner to family members and visitors
Assists in chart auditing and files paper and documents in chart binders
Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Previous experience working in the mental health field or crisis environment is preferred.
LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION
CPR and CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) are required; organization will provide if not already attained.
