Custodial
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintains and monitors the cleanliness and appearance of the Museum’s campus while observing all applicable safety guidelines
- Routinely cleans glass doors and windows
- Mops restrooms; scrubbing and sanitizing fixtures, toilets and urinals, mirrors, dividers and doors
- Restocks custodial supplies
- Maintains assigned equipment and tools
- Reports maintenance or safety concerns to supervisors or manager
- Regular use of hand tools and power tools
- Repairs and paints wall & trim surfaces
- Maintains tile & grout on walls and floors; silicone sealant on sinks and vanities; concrete and stone walls & floors; carpet; hardwood floors; VCT; toilets, urinals, sinks and faucets
- Repairs vacuum cleaners, sweepers, scrubbers, shampooers, extractors, lawn care equipment, irrigation systems, timers and controllers
- Installs office furniture and office equipment
- Maintains all gates and associated hardware for outside entry points
- Replaces light bulbs in public and office spaces
- Repairs carts, dollies, hand trucks and other transporting equipment
- Assists Engineering with equipment maintenance as needed
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- No supervisory responsibilities

- Basic knowledge of operating power tools
- Knowledge of commercial cleaning products, equipment and supplies
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in custodial role or demonstrated competency in maintenance duties. Building trade (carpentry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing) experience a plus
- Schedule/Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm (40 hours per week)
- Onsite/Not Remote
- Occasional overtime
- Occasional evening hours
- Work with chemicals
- Frequently lift/push/pulling up to 50 lbs
- Occasionally kneeling, climbing ladders, and getting in and out of tight spaces and work in awkward positions
- Occasionally climb stairs and ladders (up to levels 20 ft above the ground)
- Frequently moving around the Museum, bending body to waist, reaching, handling, and grasping objects
- Frequently communicating with other staff members
- Occasionally work in high noise areas, outdoors, in varying temperature and humidity environments
- This is not a complete representation of all physical requirements
- This role is non-exempt/hourly and full-time
- Budgeted compensation is within pay grade E ($19.46 min - $22.38 mid - $25.30 max), depending on experience
- Shift differentials, for hourly/non-exempt staff, for hours worked onsite within:
- Evening hours (6:00 pm-12:00 am) will be paid an additional $1.00 per hour
- Night hours (12:01 am-6:00 am) will be paid an additional $2.00 per hour
