Non-credit American Heart Association (AHA) Courses (Part-time Faculty positions)Requisition IDreq1135Academic DepartmentNon-credit American Heart Association (AHA) CoursesCampus CLIMB CenterPosition Summary and Candidate ProfilesPortland Community College’s American Heart Association (AHA) courses provide students and working professional opportunities to learn new skills, refresh their cardiac knowledge, or fulfill continuing education units (CEUs) needs. We are currently seeking part-time faculty members who have current content knowledge, who can balance academics with practical application, and are committed to equitable student success. Below are the AHA programs currently accepting applications. To be considered for a part-time faculty position, your application must demonstrate the Instructor Qualifications outlined below. When applying, you will be asked which of the below AHA course(s) you are interested in. AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Trainer AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) courses teach healthcare professionals critical skills, such as : Administering high-quality CPR, recognizing several life-threatening emergencies, use of an AED, and more. Minimum Instructor qualifications : An AHA BLS Instructor in good standing with the AHA. ACLS Trainer ACLS courses address the knowledge necessary to evaluate and manage an adult victim experiencing a cardiovascular emergency or cardiac arrest. The course reviews and refines patient assessment, airway management, electrical and drug therapy. Minimum Instructor qualifications : An AHA ACLS Instructor in good standing with the AHA. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Trainer PALS courses are for healthcare providers who respond to emergencies involving infants and children. These include personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, paramedics and others who need a PALS course completion card for job or other requirement Minimum Instructor qualifications : An AHA PALS Instructor in good standing with the AHA Pediatric Advanced Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) Trainer PEARS courses prepare healthcare providers and others who might encounter pediatric emergency situations to use a systematic approach to quickly assess, recognize the cause, and stabilize a pediatric patient in an emergency situation. Minimum Instructor qualifications : An AHA PEARS Instructor in good standing with the AHA. Heartsaver Trainer Heartsaver courses are tailored to lay rescuers responsible for providing first aid or CPR in the critical first minutes before professional help arrives. Participants learn CPR for adults, children, and infants and the use of the AED. Minimum Instructor qualifications : An AHA BLS Instructor First Aid, and AED skills must be in good standing with the AHA Interest in teaching the non-healthcare professionals and community members For program or compensation questions, please contact the Coordinator : Teresa Parrish - tparrishpcc.edu Notes Regarding Academic Credentials Official transcripts are required to be submitted within 2 weeks of offer date for degrees required in the stated Instructor Qualifications. Instructors shall have earned required academic credentials at a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution having the equivalent of regional accreditation. Instructors with credentials from other countries will have their transcripts evaluated by agencies that have good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services to establish fulfillment of this standard.
