Job Title: Service Inspector

DUTIES: (Essential Job Responsibilities)
- Work safely
- Perform service inspections on residential/commercial rewires, upgrades and new installations
- Inspect trenches, conduits, vaults, transformers and CT cabinets
- Spot new services and upgrades, installs conduit brackets on poles as needed
- Work with customers, contractors and electrician on minor job designs, assist SDPM’s as needed on larger designs.
- Calculate load, interpret kwh consumption and provide load sheets when needed
- Communicate with customers, contractors and electricians daily to ensure jobs are up to code and ready for Line
- Install exchange or remove socket type meters on services up to 400 amps.
- Inspect all wiring and equipment from the transformer/vaults to the meter base & customer panel
- Work overtime as needed to complete work or meet deadlines.
- Work the entire PGE service territory as needed
- Provide classroom and field training as needed
- Thorough understanding of the Service Requirements Manuel, Oregon State Electrical rules and NESC codes
- Perform other duties as assigned and meet production targets
- Inspect for damaged electrical equipment, code violations and service overload conditions, assist customers or company in making repairs or bringing up to code
- Work daily with computer, GPS, Map books and applicable software
- Have and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Required minimum 2 years’ experience working on a Distribution Line crew. For example, truck driver, apprentice, operator, underground helper, or minimum 6 months cross training in the Service Inspector role.
- Must have excellent communication skills both oral and written.
- Needs working knowledge of computers and various software including e-mail, applicable work management software, current mapping/GIS tools, and MS Office tools.
- Demonstrate better than basic computer skills with emphasis on MS Windows, MS Office tools, Outlook, and PGE Intranet/Sharepoint, as well as the working operation of the distribution system. (Skills will be assessed)
