Chief Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Accountant to play a critical role in our finance team. This is a senior-level position responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial operations for The Studio, our manufacturing facility in León, Mexico, while also collaborating closely with our U.S.-based accounting team. This role reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and requires a high level of expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive financial excellence across borders.

We are looking for an exceptional accounting professional – someone who is honest, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of leading financial operations with precision and confidence. As the Chief Accountant, you will have the opportunity to build and strengthen the accounting team in Mexico, ensure financial accuracy and compliance, and drive process improvements that support the growth of our operations. This is a remote position, following standard Monday-Friday business hours, and while we welcome applicants from various locations, our ideal candidate will be based in Austin, Texas to facilitate close collaboration with our leadership team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage accounting team and all accounting operations for The Studio, our manufacturing facility in León, Mexico, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, efficiency, and closing of books in a timely manner.
• Ensure Cash Flow Projections / Forecasts are done timely and accurately.
• Work with the local Mexico tax authority and our consultants to ensure Mexico taxes are filed and paid, and compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements.
• Keep a constant line of communication open with CFO regarding all things accounting.
• Work directly with all manufacturing teams in Mexico to gather the insight needed to perform accounting functions.
• Lead and develop the Mexico accounting team, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring seamless coordination with the U.S. accounting team.
• Develop and implement internal controls, accounting policies, and best practices to ensure financial accuracy and mitigate risk.
• Monthly travel to The Studio in León, Mexico.

Qualifications

• Five years or more experience in relevant financial environment.
• Bilingual in both English and Spanish required.
• Strong knowledge of Mexican GAAP (NIFs) and familiarity with U.S. GAAP and international accounting standards.
• Experience managing cross-border financial operations, tax compliance, and reporting.
• Proficient experience with Netsuite, QuickBooks and Microsoft Office.
• A higher education degree in Accounting or other business-related major is a plus, however relevant work experience will also be considered.
• Self-starter, skilled at multitasking and able to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
• Ability to communicate accurately and clearly.
• Able to work well under pressure, establish priorities, and meet deadlines.
