Employees in this class are responsible for following an assigned route and schedule in the safe and efficient operation of a school bus. At all times operates a school bus obeying all applicable federal, state, and local traffic laws and the enforcement of Portland Public Schools Student Bus Conduct Code. Inspects, performs minor maintenance, and cleans assigned vehicle.High School or GED diploma required.Two to four years of driving experience; prior experience as a school bus driver preferred.Successful experience interacting with childrenTwenty-one (21) years of age, and having held operator’s license for three yearsOther combinations of applicable education, training and experience, which provide the knowledge, abilities and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position, may be considered.CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS : Possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License, with P and S endorsements and no air brake restrictions.Certification in First aid and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) procedures highly desirable.PHYSICAL DEMANDS : Ability to meet prescribed pre-employment and annual physical examination requirements.Ability to complete pre- and post-trip bus inspections.
