POSITION OVERVIEW: High School Chemistry Teacher (Full Time, 1.0 FTE) - Portland High School
This is a full time position teaching physical science (Chemistry) as well as teaching within our alternative education program. The classroom teacher will be responsible for delivery of instruction in science, daily lesson planning and preparation (to include laboratory investigations), participation in staff professional development, and collaboration with colleagues, at both the school and district level. This role also requires assessment of student performance in a proficiency-based system with grade reports at the end of each quarter. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of the connection between curriculum, instruction, and assessment and have knowledge and experience using proficiency practices.
Portland High School has a culturally rich and diverse population of students. It is a 9-12 school with approximately 930 students. We seek candidates who are student-centered, flexible, energetic, team-oriented and able to make effective use of technology.
To be considered for this position you must currently hold valid MDOE certification in physical science.
