POSITION OVERVIEW: Pre-K Special Ed Educational Technician (Full Time, 1.0 FTE) - Presumpscot Elementary
We are seeking a Pre-K Special Ed Educational Technician in our Pre-K classroom for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience and knowledge of early childhood curriculum, strategies, and classroom management. The candidate will support the classroom teacher in building student school readiness by helping to create a positive, developmentally appropriate learning environment. A working knowledge of the Maine Early Learning Development Standards and experience with Pre-K for ME curricula, Teaching Strategies Gold and Second Step curriculum, are preferred.
The successful candidate will have a passion for working with young children, bring an equity-oriented approach to their instruction, and will hold all students to high expectations, recognizing that some may need more support to meet those expectations. The ideal candidate will have experience working with families experiencing poverty, and with students and families for whom English is a second or third language, and/or interest in working in a classroom that includes students with identified special needs. We seek a teammate who is positive, collaborative, and an effective communicator who will contribute actively to both the classroom and the larger Presumpscot and PPS communities. The Presumpscot Pre-K Special Ed Educational Technician will take direction from the Presumpscot Pre-K teacher / administrators, and report to the Presumpscot administrators and the PPS Director of Pre-K Programs.
The candidate will attend both Presumpscot and Pre-K team staff meetings and professional development opportunities as appropriate and as required.
All Public Pre-K programs in Maine adhere to Maine Chapter 124 as their guidance document.
CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Educational Technician III, with Level 4 status on the Maine Roads to Quality Registry within 3 years.
