What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bus Driver Trainer 40/40 (1.0 FTE) - Transportation position at Portland Public Schools?
Under general supervision of the Director of Transportation, the Instructor/Driver trains, instructs, and supervises new drivers in the safe and proper operation of PPS school buses/vehicles during training operations according to State, Federal, and District regulations and standards. Coordinates and maintains related records and training needs of drivers. Also performs bus driving duties in the transport of students to/from school and other designated sites. This job class exercises responsibility for ensuring that District bus drivers are properly trained and licensed in the safe and efficient operation of District school buses and other transport vehicles. This job class requires a high degree of technical skills, organizational skills, and communication skills.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Holds valid Maine driver’s license w/CDL & School bus endorsements.
- Twenty-one (21) years of age, and has had a license for a minimum of 3 years.
- Willingness to register as a trainer with the FMCSA and learn the rules & regulations within the JJ Keller CDL trainer guide.
CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
