POSITION OVERVIEW: High School Special Education Teacher, Resource Room (Full Time) - Portland High, 25-26 SY
Portland Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Teacher to join the teaching faculty at Portland High School. Candidate will provide individually designed instruction to high school students on Individual Education Plans and will consult with general education teachers on a regular basis regarding students' accommodations, modifications and educational needs.
Preference will be given to candidates with a strong background in individually designed instruction who have demonstrated an ability to conduct IEP meetings, perform annual and triennial academic evaluations, and prepare special education documentation including the Written Notice, IEP, present level of educational performance, and measurable goals and objectives. Applicant should also be able to develop and implement Positive Behavioral Support Plans. Strong organizational skills and the ability to relate positively to students, parents and staff are essential in this position.
