Position Details
Type 10 Drivers - ‘WE MOVE THE FUTURE.‘
Type 10 Drivers primarily serve families of students with special needs in passenger van / sedan transportation service to & from school. As a Type 10 Driver you value student safety and providing exceptional service.
When you will work
- Monday to Friday, 20 hours a week
- 4) hour guarantee per day as a split shift of (2) hours each shift :
Morning Shift : 5 : 45 to 7 : 00 am

What you will do
Under general supervision, drive a type 10 passenger vehicle to transport students safely and efficiently to locations along designated routes. Perform daily safety inspections, prepare a variety of records and reports related to assigned activities and perform other related duties as assigned.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS
Type 10 drivers drive vehicles, with up to 9 passenger capacity (plus driver), safely and efficiently to assigned locations along designated routes, transporting students, staff, parents and caregivers to and from school and other special events.

Diploma or equivalent to graduation from high school is required
Possession of a valid driver‘s license and ability to obtain current Oregon Type-10 Passenger Driver Certification before beginning work is required
Experience :
A clean driving record which is free from incidents for at least 3 years
Any other combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the candidate is likely to possess the skill, knowledge, ability and trait characteristics essential for this classification may be considered
Special Requirements :
Employees are required to maintain a valid driver‘s license and Type 10 passenger vehicle Driver Certificate issued by the State of Oregon throughout the course of, and as a condition of continued employment.
Candidates for this classification will be required to obtain and submit, at their own expense, a current motor vehicle driving record at the time of appointment. For the purpose of insurability and district liability, employees must meet and maintain the District‘s safe driving standard throughout the course of employment.
Must pass a physical agility test.
Type 10 drivers shall be added to the random testing pool and shall be subject to alcohol and controlled substance testing.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The conditions herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Persons with certain disabilities may be capable of performing the essential duties of this class with or without reasonable accommodation, depending on the nature of the disability.
Work Environment : Driving a type 10 passenger vehicle on public roads and highways, frequently during times of heavy traffic, exposure to cold and hot weather conditions, regular evening, weekend, and variable hours which may also include split shifts.
Hazards : Road and highway traffic with possible emergency situations, contact with dissatisfied or angry individuals, work in a close environment with significant interaction with noisy, active and unruly children, exposure to gas, diesel and exhaust fumes.
Physical Demands : Sitting for extended periods of time. Climb and descend steps, operate two hand and two foot controls simultaneously and quickly, have a reaction time of ¾ a second or less from the throttle to the brake control, carry or drag a 125 pound person 30 feet in 30 seconds or less, depress a type 10 passenger vehicle brake pedal with the foot to a pressure of a least 90 pounds and depress a clutch pedal with the foot to a pressure of a least 40 pounds (unless operating an automatic transmission). Bending, crouching, stooping and walking to conduct safety inspection of vehicle, hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the telephone, seeing to read a variety of technology route maps, materials and inspecting vehicle for damage and safety deficiencies. Mental acuity to concentrate while performing driving duties and to maintain order with type 10 passenger vehicle passengers.
