Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care (PVESC) is a 26-doctor practice offering advanced emergency and specialty care, including surgery, internal medicine, oncology, dermatology, neurology, emergency & critical care, and cardiology.
Our facility features state-of-the-art equipment, including a CT machine, MRI, digital radiology, three surgical suites, IDEXX in-house labs, ultrasound, endoscopy, pulse-wave therapy, and advanced monitoring equipment.

The Role :
We’re seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our emergency department. This role offers opportunities to thrive in a fast-paced environment while delivering exceptional care to pets and their families.
Schedule :
We are currently hiring for second shift , working 4 10-hour days from 2 PM - 12 AM.
Requirements
What You’ll Do :
- Safely handle and restrain patients with minimal stress.
- Assist in diagnostics, including radiographs, lab sample collection, and basic lab work (e.g., PCV / TP, blood smears, urinalysis).
- Support veterinarians and LVTs with patient treatments, procedures, and monitoring, including anesthetic induction and recovery.
- Maintain and organize treatment areas, surgical suites, and equipment.
- Monitor and document patient vitals; alert the medical team to abnormalities.
- Provide compassionate communication with clients and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Assist with emergency cases, such as GDV, respiratory distress, and trauma patients.
