Job Description:
Portledge School seeks to hire a dynamic part-time after-school club Teaching Assistant to help supervise, engage and care for students ranging from Pre-Kindergarten to Fifth Grade. The After 3:00 Club is designed to serve families who require supervision for their children beyond the normal school hours. This position would report directly to the After School Club Supervisorvvv
Responsibilities:
Supervise and care for participating students from 3:00 pm - 5:30 pm Tuesdays, potential to add additional days
Design and implement a schedule of activities each day including outdoor play, structured and unstructured play activities, snack, and homework support
Maintain open and regular communication with parents
Document and organize student arrivals and departures
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Experience in an educational setting preferred
Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred
CPR and First Aid certification preferred
Strong communication skills with both children and adults
Classroom/student management skills
Ability to create and implement a schedule of activities
Ability to collaborate with colleagues and student families
Ability to problem solve and make quick decisions
Ability to comfortably, warmly, and effectively engage with large and small groups of adults and/or students in professional or social settings
Belief in the value of all types of diversity with a commitment to social justice and equity
Anti-racism/anti-bias training preferred
Compensation Range:
$18.00 - $23.00 per hour
