- Portneuf Medical Center is a nationally recognized healthcare leader with 205 beds, serving as the region's Level II Trauma and tertiary care center and home to the Portneuf Heart and Vascular Institute, Portneuf Cancer Center, Portneuf Medical Group, and Portneuf Air Rescue.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for supporting infection control and employee safety programs, including monitoring, screening, contact tracing activities, maintaining appropriate documents/records, and centralizing communications related to infectious diseases and/or employee safety.
- Maintain, administer and monitor records for all employees and medical staff according to the CDC, Ardent Health, Idaho Department of Health, and Bannock County Public Health guidelines.
- Assist with environment of care program to ensure compliance with healthcare regulators including The Joint Commission and NFPA.
- Organize, track, and maintain a variety of confidential health records and files, statistics, and documents.
- Assess employees exposed outside of the work environment regarding risk and determination of necessity to be off of work.
- Conduct exposure tracing of those employees exposed at work and contact exposed co-workers and patients.
- Assist the CMO, Employee Health, and Infection Prevention with communication of infectious disease results.
- Conduct wellness checks of employees and medical staff exposures and track quarantine status.
- Act as a liaison for communicating infectious disease exposures to appropriate leadership.
- Provide oversight of re-entry to the workforce of employees exposed to communicable diseases.
- Available to answer questions and concerns regarding infectious diseases.
- Perform compliance rounding on adherence to current policy/practice.
- Perform consistent rounding on invasive lines, collects/analyzes data, and facilitates process improvement to reduce hospital acquired infections.
- Develop and provide targeted infection prevention/control education to identified groups as a key method for minimizing and limiting infections and exposures within the organization.
- Provide education on hand hygiene and surgical site care for patients and their families to reduce perioperative infections.
- Administer the organization's hand hygiene monitoring and compliance program in accordance with Leapfrog requirements. This includes IPC validation of hand hygiene compliance and observer audits.
- Expand the scope of IPC rounding of inpatient areas to provide just in time education, answer staff questions in real time, and ensure IPC policies are adhered to.
Qualifications
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing or medical laboratory technology.
- Must have at least two years of experience in an acute care setting, preferably clinical and/or infection prevention related.
- Must have knowledge of basic infection control principles and practices including the proper use of PPE and disinfection.
