Job Summary:
Portsmouth Abbey seeks a full-time Spanish instructor to begin in August, 2025. Applicants should be excited to teach high school students at any level from introductory Spanish I through AP and advanced levels. This position requires experience teaching upper-level Spanish courses, including AP Spanish. Speaking and writing fluency is essential given the rigorous curriculum and active classroom environment we foster in the modern language department. This position could include the role of Department Head depending on a candidate’s experience. We seek dynamic educators who will be an active part of our community both inside and outside the classroom with teaching, coaching, and residential responsibilities living out our mission to help young men and women grow in knowledge and grace.
Responsibilities:
- Teach four sections of Spanish, including AP Spanish
- Possible Department Head role
- Coach two seasons
- Serve as a houseparent or affiliate in one of the student residential houses
- Advise 5-7 students
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Spanish or related field
- At least three years’ experience teaching high school
- Experience teaching the AP Spanish curriculum
- Experience in boarding schools preferred but not required
- Desire to be engaged in a Catholic residential community
- Alignment with the School’s mission of helping young men and women grow in
knowledge and grace
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel, including evenings and weekends
- A love of working with students

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
