What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Nursing position at Portsmouth City Health Department?
Under the direction of the Portsmouth City Health Department Administrator, the Director of Nursing (DON) provides policy leadership, organizes, and oversees nursing programs within the Public Health Department. This role promotes and advocates for public health initiatives while developing and implementing department-wide policies related to nursing activities, utilization, and training.
The DON manages all programs within the Public Health and Community Health Divisions, including ODRS management, and serves as the Vaccines for Children Coordinator. Responsibilities also include providing direct client care in the clinic and managing the Children with Medical Handicaps (CMH) program.
Additionally, the DON oversees the Reproductive Health and Wellness (RHW) grant. STI, and HIV programs. The position also supervises the Exchange and HIV/STI grant coordinator to ensure compliance and effective program implementation.
All duties are performed in alignment with the mission, purpose, and goals of the Portsmouth City Health Department
