JOB SUMMARY:
The Deputy Operations Manager is responsible for assisting in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Kentucky warehouse. The main goal is to ensure that the company's operations run smoothly and efficiently in order to meet the needs of customers and stakeholders. The successful candidate will support the Operations Manager, build and develop their own leadership, management and operational skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with onsite managers to ensure the effective running of operations
- Assist with goods in, dispatch and returns
- Ensure containers are received in a timely manner, adhering to procedures.
- Ensure standards within the warehouse are upheld and strive towards continuous improvement.
- Communicate effectively and frequently with other departments, Warehouse Manager and Operations Manager about day to day issues or performance.
- Be a focused team member who contributes to the achievement of daily set targets.
- Ensure standards are adhered to at all times
- Ensure staff on your team are adhering to all SOP's.
- Be fully conversant (to advisory level) in all policies relating to the Kentucky warehouse and office facility. Provide support to managers and employees with respect to local regulations and Portwest internal policies culture and values.
- Proactively request training that will contribute to successful operations
- Be knowledgeable across a multitude of faculties across the business in order to advise on Operations/Sales/Customer Service/ HR when necessary.
- Act as a brand ambassador for Portwest by upholding the values, policies,
- messaging and intentions set by the company for communication to staff.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors degree or other relevant qualification
- Min 1-3 years experience in relevant field
- Commercial acumen, strategic thinker
- A desire and demonstrated aptitude to develop people management skills
- The ability to work autonomously and manage own workload
- Proactive and solutions orientated approach
- The ability to manage competing or shifting priorities
- The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
