JOB SUMMARY
The Operator is responsible for assisting the Shift Manager and Machine Operator in the set-up and completion of the slitting and recoiling process.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
Assist in loading and stringing coils on the heavy gauge slitter.
Monitor quality standards before, during, and after the processing.
Tape, mark, and remove all finished coils from the heavy gauge slitter.
May operate panel to control specific units of equipment, such as uncoiler and recoiler.
Safely operate the forklift to move coils to designated areas and run the overhead crane to move coils from the heavy gauge slitter to packaging.
Unload scrap winder as necessary when it becomes full.
Monitor the paper winder
Keep the immediate work area clean and organized throughout the day.
Use precision when operating tools such as tape measures, micrometers, nibblers, and calipers.
Other duties as instructed by the Plant Manager/Plant Director.

Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee primarily works in a plant environment. Will require under certain areas following procedures the use of personal protective equipment such as safety hats, safety shoes, safety uniforms (long sleeve work shirts and work pants), and gloves. Subject to normal plant hazards such as noise, heat, dust, moving machine parts, forklift traffic, electrical circuits, overhead cranes, lighting differences, and another environment typical of a metal processing environment.
Expected Hours of Work
The employee will work a minimum of 40 hours per week. The scheduled hours are 6:00 am to 3:00 pm for the 1st shift and 2:30 pm to 11:30 pm for the 2nd shift. May be required to work some weekends and may work longer hours on a needed basis.

Heavy Gauge slitter machine, recoiler, uncoiler, drill, jigsaw, flathead, air bander, pipe wrench, Allen wrench, crowbar, battery power bander, copier, scales, forklift, overhead crane, crescent wrench, pliers, pallet jack, digital calipers, paper machine winder, camera, and PDA.
