JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: TEACHER
PURPOSE STATEMENT
The position of Teacher has been established for the purposes of providing instruction and supervision to students and to help them learn subject matter that will contribute to their development.
REPORTS TO
Building Principal
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Demonstrate support for the mission, beliefs, and goals of the Posen Robbins
School District 143 ½.
- Uphold the established Board of Education policies, regulations and administrative procedures.
- Plan and implement instruction using methods and materials which are most appropriate for meeting district goals and objectives.
- Evaluate students on a regular basis and provide reports and records as required.
- Create a classroom and school environment that is conducive to learning. o Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct. o Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures. o Maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner for the safety and well being of the students.
- Communicate with colleagues, students, parents, and the community as needed to meet professional standards.
- Maintain and improve professional competence.
- Attend meetings, serve on committees, and perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as may be assigned by the principal or designee in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and Board of
Education.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare lesson plans, units and projects to complete learning objectives that align with the District’s core curriculum
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units and projects
- Create, assign and grade various student assessments, including tests, quizzes, essays and projects
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to the learning styles of students
- Work with students 1:1 when extra attention or help is required
- Establish and enforce rules of behavior for students in the classroom
- Have the ability to integrate technology in your daily delivery of instruction
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders
- Take an active role in your continued professional development
- Other responsibilities as required to support the District’s learning outcomes
JOB REQUIREMENTS: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Illinois Professional Education License with the appropriate endorsement, or other legal credential required.
- Prior skills and experience as requested by the Building Principal
