Essential Job Functions
Organize and maintain the warranty and service schedule. Ensuring the timely communication and completion of service and warranty work with an emphasis on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction
Installation of the mechanical systems of ground or roof-mounted solar systems
Assemble the racking and solar array. Assemble equipment along with properly sealing all roof penetrations
Project clean-up including job site and working vehicle
Assist with onsite damage / roof assessments
Work with the Field service tech 3 to allocate labor resources to service and warranty projects as needed
Complete non-electrical Field Service Dispatches (FSDs) and assist the Field Service Technicians with electrical FSDs as needed
Receive, update, and complete FSDs within the Service Dashboard in Salesforce Assist with other branch tasks including inspections and site audits when assigned
Follow organization policies and procedures including OSHA requirements. Complete OSHA training as required
Troubleshoot and resolve solar electric warranty and service issues that arise with modules, inverters, monitoring, and balance of system components
Investigate and mitigate any reported roof leaks including thorough documentation : complete roof leak checklist, photos, and written observations
Assist with training and development for Field Service Technicians.
Serve as a subject matter expert by providing on the job training and up-training for the local field service team
Support the onboarding and training of new members of the field service team
Regularly exceed defined goals for field service key performance indicators including but not limited to turnaround time, experience rating, and average dispatches completed
Competencies
Must be able to work both on a team as well as a one man / woman show
Ability to stay organized and maintains project records
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required for accurate quality control evaluation documentation and work oversight
The ability to read plans, specifications, diagrams, equipment submittals, and material data sheets
Excellent time management
Ability to capture referrals and leave customers happy
Education / Experience
High School or Trade School degree in a discipline related to construction or building sciences, engineering, or architecture is preferred
1 years experience in a discipline related to construction or building sciences; estimating, installing, or site auditing experience is preferred;
Residential Solar / photovoltaic installation experience is strongly preferred
Proficiency with computers and various applications including MS Office, as well as a general disposition towards learning technology including the use of online platforms such as but not limited to Dropbox, and Salesforce (CRM) on various devices (laptop, tablet, and smartphone)
Proficiency with Google Workspace is preferred
Ability for and no fear of working from ladders / scaffolding or working in confined spaces such as crawl spaces or attics, under mobile homes
General knowledge of the installation of energy-saving materials and associated tools
Must have a valid state driver’s license and reliable transportation
Willing to move through the pre-employment screening process
Physical Demands
The physical demands outlined below are representative of those that an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.
Ability to work in a variety of extreme environmental conditions (e.g., high heat, cold temperatures).
Must be willing and able to climb ladders, ascend / descend stairs, and work on rooftops of multi-level buildings, as well as within confined spaces such as attics.
While performing the duties of this role, the employee will regularly be required to speak and hear. The role frequently requires standing, walking, using hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, and reaching with hands and arms.
Must be capable of lifting up to 70 pounds.
The employee will occasionally need to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision requirements for this role include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus..
