POSITION OUTLINE:
The Traffic Control Foreman is responsible for overseeing and managing all traffic control operations at the job site. This includes coordinating, setting up, and maintaining temporary traffic control systems to ensure the safe and efficient movement of traffic around construction areas. The Foreman will ensure compliance with state, federal, and local regulations while maintaining the safety of the construction crew and the public.
Responsibilities include:
- Coordination with Project Superintendent
- Traffic Control Planning & Setup: Develop and implement traffic control plans in coordination with the project team. Ensure proper setup and takedown of traffic control devices such as cones, signs, barricades, and flaggers.
- Supervision of Traffic Control Crew: Direct, train, and supervise traffic control personnel, ensuring that all crew members follow proper safety protocols and procedures.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal traffic control regulations (e.g., MUTCD guidelines) and the company’s safety policies.
- Manage traffic control for activities such as road closures, detours, and lane shifts.
- Monitoring & Adjustments: Monitor traffic patterns and construction site conditions to make real-time adjustments to traffic control systems. Conduct regular safety audits of the work zone.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of traffic control activities, including daily reports, safety inspections, and incident reports.
- Safety Compliance: Promote and enforce site safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment for all employees and the public. Address any potential hazards immediately.
- Emergency Response: Act as the point of contact for traffic-related incidents and emergencies, ensuring quick and effective resolution.
- Desired 5 years in traffic control or a related field. Experience working on highway, road, or infrastructure projects is preferred.
- Desired traffic control certifications, Contractor’s Responsible Person for Traffic Control (CRP).
- OSHA 10/30 certification.
- Strong understanding of traffic control plans, MUTCD guidelines, and state/local traffic control regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.
