Youth Care Staff - River Falls Group Home

Positive Alternatives is a 501c(3) non-profit organization that serves at-risk youth in Wisconsin through community-based services and group home programming.

Part-time Youth Resident Counselor - Starting at $19.25/hour $1/hour weekend shift differential

Youth Resident Counselors facilitate a positive living environment for adolescent residents through offering support, encouragement and guidance. Resident Counselor's are responsible for:

• Lead daily programming activities and promote positive participation
• Engage with residents through recreational activities, groups, meals and other aspects of daily living
• Respond to critical resident needs as they arise
• Participate in developing and maintaining a therapeutic, safe and supportive environment

Experience caregiving, volunteering in a helping role or working in schools, childcare, law enforcement, correction or at youth camps.

Typical Schedule:

• Weekdays- 3pm-10pm
• Holiday (rotation) and Weekends required- 9am-3pm, 3pm-11pm and 12am-6am
• Minimum shift requirement is one weekday shift per week and two shifts every other weekend

Full-time 2nd shift Youth Resident Counselor - Starting at $20.75/hour $1/hour weekend shift differential

Lead Youth Resident Counselor are those responsible for leading and maintaining a safe, supervised and structured living environment. You will work alongside residents to support the achievement of treatment goals through engagement in healthy and productive daily activities. Leads are responsible for:

• Lead scheduled shift activities while following programming schedules
• Supervise youth and know their whereabouts at all times
• Facilitate crisis counseling, conflict resolution and problem solving with and for clients
• Transport and supervise clients at designated activities and appointments
• Follow all program policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state licensing requirements
• Accurately complete and review shift documentation
• Train new hires following the defined training program
• Additional duties as assigned

Schedule:

• 9-hour shifts on a rotating schedule
• Shifts scheduled every other weekend are required
• Scheduled typically between the hours of 2pm-12:30am
• Holiday rotation required

Previous experience working with a youth population in a residential setting and a bachelor's degree in human or social services field preferred, but not required.

Group Home Manager - Starting at $23.50-$24.25/hour

Group Home Managers are the leaders of the care-team responsible for maintaining a safe, supervised and structured living environment for adolescent residents that is conducive to their well-being. Group Home Managers are responsible for:

• Oversight of direct care team and day-to-day operations
• Ensure programming adheres to state licensing requirements
• Serve as the point of contact for referral sources
• Review and approve timecards for biweekly payroll processing
• Performance management of direct reports
• Interviewing, new hire orientation and training
• Additional duties as assigned

Schedule:

• 8-hour shifts scheduled five days per week, typically Monday-Friday
• Work hours may be required outside of the normal schedule to adjust to resident and staff scheduling needs

Skills and experience:

• Previous experience working with youth population in a residential setting
• Bachelor's degree in human services, social services or criminal justice fields
• Supervisory experience

All positions are responsible for actively participating in house and team meetings. As well as attending initial and ongoing training sessions. Additionally:

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Hold a valid driver's license
• Ability to navigate a computer to type and document daily activities
• Candidates for these positions must complete background checks
• Candidates possessing a positive, caring, and resilient outlook do well in these roles
