Positive Recovery currently has 19 locations statewide. We are presently seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate Program Nurse for our state licensed and Joint Commission certified Garden Oaks residential treatment center in Houston, TX.
Position Description:
The focus of this role is to ensure excellence in the daily operations of the nursing department by promoting quality of care to clients through assessment, medication management, and direct client oversight.
Essential Functions:
- Delivers optimum care through assessment, monitoring, and communication of observations and findings with physicians and other members of the treatment team.
- Coordinates admissions with Admissions Department and obtains admission orders from physicians.
- Promotes restoration of health, client and family education, and serves as a client advocate.
- Maintains and adheres to established infection control/employee health program while ensuring compliance with all Positive Recovery policies and procedures, as well as all state and accreditation standards.
- Coordinates with Medical Director, President, and Executive Director to keep all informed of current departmental activities, plans, and developments through both oral and written reports.
- Functions as a “house supervisor” in absence of other supervisory staff.
- Monitors client self-administration of medication.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Provides detox assessments, history and physical reports, and develops detox treatment plans.
- Coordinates emergency medical care for medical and psychiatric emergencies.
- Ensures that documentation on all clients meets company and regulatory standards.
- Leads CD and health education groups, and coordinates medical appointments, lab work with venipuncture, and referrals.
- Attends monthly staff meetings, required training, and serves on various organizational teams and committees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma
- Licensed LVN, RN or BSN
- Desire to work with clients suffering from the disease of addiction.
- Prefer experience with a 12-step program.
- Proficient using general computer skills and previous experience with an electronic medical recording program.
