Location Description

Post Consumer Brands in Jonesboro, Ark. is home to more than 200 team members. Jonesboro may be a smaller town, but it has a strong performing arts scene, multiple schools, and a diverse geography with sports and outdoor recreation opportunities for everyone. The Post Jonesboro team supports the community through food pantry volunteering and an annual toy drive during the holiday season.

Responsibilities

Joining our team as a Quality and Food Safety Manager offers a unique opportunity to lead and innovate within a dynamic food manufacturing environment. This role is pivotal in ensuring the highest standards of quality and food safety, directly impacting the health and satisfaction of our customers. You will have the chance to work with cutting-edge technologies and collaborate with a dedicated team, all while driving continuous improvement and compliance with industry standards. This position not only allows you to showcase your expertise but also provides a clear path for career advancement within our growing company.

  • Sign-on Bonus of $10,000 relocation for ideal candidate. Location: M-F on-site 1st shift.**


Key Performance Objectives (KPOs)

  • Within the first 90 days, the successful candidate will conduct a comprehensive audit of the current Quality and Food Safety (QFS) programs, identifying gaps and areas for improvement. This will involve reviewing all raw materials, process parameters, and sanitation procedures to ensure compliance with Customer, Company, State, and Federal standards. The deliverable will be a detailed report outlining the findings and a prioritized action plan for addressing any deficiencies.
  • By the end of the first six months, the candidate will have implemented at least three major quality improvement initiatives. These initiatives should be based on the initial audit findings and aim to enhance product quality and safety. Success will be measured by a reduction in non-compliance incidents and customer complaints, as well as improved audit scores from internal and external reviews.
  • Within the first year, the candidate will lead the team in achieving full compliance with Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards, including the successful completion of a third-party audit. This will involve coordinating with Engineering and Maintenance to ensure all structural and mechanical designs support food safety and GMP practices. The deliverable will be the certification of the plant under GFSI standards, demonstrating the highest level of food safety and quality management.
  • Throughout the first year, the candidate will develop and implement a robust training program for all employees on non-compliance, metal detection, GMPs, preventive controls, and sanitation procedures. The success of this program will be measured by improved employee performance, reduced error rates, and enhanced overall food safety culture within the plant.

Work Environment

The Quality and Food Safety Manager will work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment, reporting to the corporate Sr. Quality Food Safety Manager, with a dotted line to the Plant Manager. The team includes Quality Assurance technicians and other plant QFS staff, all dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality. Relevant tools and technologies include statistical analysis software, HACCP systems, and various quality management systems.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Minimum of 4 year B.S. degree in Food Science, Microbiology or related field.

Experience

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in food manufacturing business, preferably in the Quality Assurance or Production environment. Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience. Must have working knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, quality systems, and experience working with and leading team in a manufacturing environment. Must possess understanding of FDA and local regulatory requirements.

Other Skills

Effective management and supervisory skills. Must have excellent facilitating skills in a team environment, and effective communication skills, both written and oral. Training skills with ability to develop own curriculum. Must be a demonstrated problem solver with the ability to implement effective solutions. Working knowledge of statistical and other advanced analytical problem solving tools. Must be able to read, write and communicate in the English language.
