Responsibilities:
The main responsibility in this role is to ensure products imported and exported by Post comply with all international trade regulations. Duties involve developing an internal enterprise global trade compliance function and implementing internal policies to ensure a company-wide compliance with import and export shipping requirements, custom regulations and trade laws.

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES
  • Lead Global Trade Compliance program.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain import and export program to ensure compliance with all international trade laws and regulations.
  • Leads team to support all aspects of international business transactions for varied portfolio of human and pet food products.
  • Partner with the Supply Chain and Logistics teams as the subject matter expert for international transactions, permits, licenses and certifications.
  • Build global trade compliance strategy, identify enhancements to supply chain operations and lead implementation of cross-functional improvements.
  • Establish and lead internal training programs on global trade compliance policies, ensuring key stakeholders, including supply chain, procurement, logistics, and legal teams, are educated on import / export regulations, customs requirements, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Communicate across all business units, foreign subsidiaries, foreign suppliers and customers, transportation, the policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all border crossing regulations.
  • Manage compliance engagement and communications with Customs Brokers, freight forwarders, CBP, FDA and USDA regarding entries, requests for import information, and challenges for both regular import / export of products and special projects.
  • Act as the corporate representative and develop positive relationships between the Company and the appropriate government officials and agencies to support trade compliance programs.
  • Provide subject matter expertise across Company on special trade programs and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Drive continuous improvement and cost savings by identifying appropriate duty classifications and preferential duty programs.
  • Continually monitor changes to domestic and international trade regulations providing relevant updates across the enterprise.
  • Establish and track key performance indications (KPIs) and metrics to assess and enhance U.S. global trade compliance effectiveness.
  • Ensure accurate classification, valuation, and compliance with Title 19 CFR, global tariff requirements, and other regulatory standards, including ADD / CVD, FDA, NOAA, OFAC, and USDA.
  • Oversee the proper documentation and utilization of trade agreements, including USMCA and Certificates of Origin, to optimize compliance and cost savings.
  • Lead engagement and performance of external customs broker including coordinating clearance through US Customs.
  • Create process for continual improvements related to cost, compliance and service.
  • Determine proper Customs classifications, valuation, and country of origin / marking of products, equipment, and raw materials, ensuring regulatory compliance.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
  • Bachelor’s Degree, required
  • Licensed U.S. Customs Broker (preferred)
  • Certified Export Specialist (preferred CSS: Master Customs Specialist)
  • 7 years of experience in International Trade Compliance and Global Logistics Operations
  • Extensive experience interpreting and applying Title 19 CFR, global tariff classification, and trade regulations from agencies such as ADD / CVD, FDA, NOAA, OFAC, and USDA
  • Strong knowledge of trade documentation, including Free Trade Agreements (USMCA) and Certificates of Origin
  • Deep understanding of FDA and USDA regulations for importing and exporting human and pet food products
  • Proficiency in using the ACE portal for import / export reporting and compliance tracking
  • Proven ability to interact with government agencies and legal counsel on trade compliance matters
  • Experience managing relationships with major transportation carriers and freight forwarders, particularly ocean freight carriers, with a focus on commercial terms, capacity planning, and cost optimization
  • Preferred experience in designing and implementing a global trade compliance program
  • Strong management and leadership skills, with the ability to guide and influence cross-functional teams
  • Ability to collaborate with senior management on company-wide trade compliance initiatives and cross-functional projects
  • Skilled in managing external consultants, customs brokers, and regulatory partners to ensure compliance and operational efficiency
  • Strong coaching and communication skills, with the ability to train internal teams on trade compliance policies and best practices
  • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail, with a proactive approach to identifying compliance risks and opportunities
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across multiple business functions
  • Highly developed critical thinking and judgment, with the ability to assess risks and implement practical compliance solutions
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently while managing multiple responsibilities
