JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director,Honors Program has a degree of discretion and independence in accord with the strategic goals and objectives of the University Honors Program. The position will receive guidance from and report to the Director, Honors Program. In general, the position is responsible for assisting the Honors Program Director with the administration and management of the University Honors Program and supporting the further growth and development of the program. Duties include, but are not limited to assisting with the management and administration of the Honors Program and special initiatives, supporting recruitment efforts of high achieving students to the Honors Program, serving as co-advisor for the campus Student Advisory Group, attending (as appropriate) regional and national Honors conferences, coordinating the planning and implementation of Honors Program student events, assisting with the management of Honors course contracts, and developing and managing an Honors Program LinkedIn page. The person in this position is pivotal to the Honors Program in that they handle confidential information and is expected to communicate pleasantly and professionally with students, as well as internal and external University constituents. The candidate must have a valid Connecticut driver's license and a clean driving record. The candidate must be willing to work flexible hours with occasional evening and weekend work for special events.
This is an on-campus, in-person position (not remote).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist with the management and administration of the Honors Program operations and special initiatives
- Support recruitment efforts of high-achieving students to the Honors Program
- Serve as co-advisor of the campus Student Advisory Group
- Attend (as appropriate) regional and national Honors conferences and assist with student preparation for program presentations
- Coordinate the planning and implementation of University Honors Program student events and attend events as required
- Collaborate with the Honors Program Director in the administration of the Honors Course Contracts
- Manage Honors Program inventory, including procurement of supplies and goods, tracking stock levels, and maintaining accurate records for efficient operations
- Assist with daily management of Honors program student worker
- Support budget management, including resource allocation, financial planning, and expense monitoring to ensure fiscal responsibility within the department
- Work with the Honors Program Director and other internal stakeholders to identify and schedule Honors courses each semester
- Maintain accurate records of current and graduated campus Honors Program students
- Track and analyze campus Honors Program student data, including credits completed, accolades earned, and persistence and retention rates, to assess program effectiveness and support student success
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with University special projects and initiatives as needed
- Other duties as assigned by the Director, Honors Program

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred
- Five years of experience in a higher education setting preferred
- Ability to collaborate inter-departmentally while demonstrating agility in adapting to evolving priorities
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Assist with online Honors Program as needed
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Competency with Canva and basic program marketing
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office suite
