Accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums since 1987, the Potawatomi Zoo is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join a rapidly growing facility. Since 2018 the Zoo has invested over $20 million in capital improvements, taking this once small community zoo to a modern zoological facility focused on its mission of conservation and education. The Bartender provides exceptional customer service while assisting with serving alcohol, working in other areas of Food Service and maintaining cleanliness in work areas. This position is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of orders, helping customers with their needs, and maintaining a safe and clean environment. The Bartender will report to the Director of Food Service and Hospitality
Responsibilities:
- Greet and interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Following Indiana Alcohol Beverage guidelines dispense alcohol to guests
- May assist with food preparation, including portioning and plating items.
- Serve food and/or beverages to customers quickly and accurately.
- Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are met at all times.
- Operate kitchen equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness in food preparation areas, dining areas, and restrooms.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with stock replenishment as needed.
- Handle cash and process transactions accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Assist in maintaining a smooth workflow during busy periods.
- Collaborate with team members to provide excellent customer service.
- Follow Potawatomi Zoo policies and health and safety regulations at all times.
Qualifications:
- 21 years old or older
- Valid Indiana Alcohol Liquor permit
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math skills for handling cash and processing transactions.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Must pass background check if over 18 years of age.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in busy, noisy environments.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
