Job Details - 7th Grade ELA Teacher - 7th and 8th Grade Center
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
Certification, by the Oklahoma State Department of Education, in English (Grades 5 to 12), Mid-Level English(Grades 5 to 8), Elementary Education.
Position Summary: The teacher is expected to create and support a positive classroom atmosphere where students can grow both academically and socially. Following district policies and initiatives, as guided by the site administrator, is also part of the job. Building strong, professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and all stakeholders is essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain all records and the comprehensive computer database necessary to complete the annual child counts and other state and federal reports required by the Oklahoma State Department of Education. Teaches academic content as designated to pupils in a classroom, utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education, and activities aligned to current state standards.
- Adheres to district and school policies as set forth by district/site handbooks.
- Able to provide a learning environment that allows all students to feel safe and successful.
- Instructs pupils in basic subject matter specified in state law and regulations and procedures of the school district.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
- Monitors and evaluates pupils' academic and social growth toward goals, make adjustments as needed, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil's progress and interpret the school program.
- Identifies pupil needs and collaborates with other professional staff members in assessing and providing interventions/resources for pupils’ health, social-emotional, and academic needs.
- Enhances professional pedagogy through in-service education provided by the district and self-selected professional growth opportunities. In addition to this, sets goals for professional growth and seeks guidance.
- Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above.
