High School Counselor
Requirements:
Certification by the Oklahoma State Department of Education in School Counseling
Position Summary:
The school counselor is committed to upholding professionalism,and offering support to all high school students in both their social emotional and academic development. He/She will take an active leadership role within the school, continuously evaluating the counseling program. The counselor will deliver individual and group learning opportunities designed to nurture the overall development of the child. Additionally, the school counselor will ensure his/her efforts in harmony with the mission and vision of the school.
Essential Duties:
Individual Student Support: Provide one on-one counseling sessions to help students navigate personal or academic challenges.
Group Counseling:
Facilitate small group sessions on topics such as social skills, conflict resolution, stress management, and academic strategies, promoting peer support and collaboration.
Classroom Guidance:
Deliever classroom lessons on subjects like bullying prevention, emotional regulation, and character education and promote a positive school culture.
Academic Planning and Support:
Aid students in their academic development.
Crisis Intervention: Respond to and manage crisis situations involving students.
