Special Education Teacher
Poteau Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with students with diverse learning needs and will be committed to helping each student reach their fullest potential.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
- Provide one-on-one, small group instruction or co teaching instruction to students based on their unique needs and learning styles.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and other professionals to support students’ academic, social, and emotional development.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and IEP documentation.
- Manage classroom behavior and create a positive and supportive learning environment.
- Participate in school-wide meetings, staff development, and parent-teacher conferences.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid state teaching certification in Mild-Moderate or Severe-Profound Special Education.
- Experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in a school setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other educators, parents, and specialists.
- Knowledge of IEP development, behavior management strategies, and differentiated instruction techniques.
