Elementary Music Teacher
Position Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Elementary Music Teacher to lead our music program for
students in grades 2 nd - 4 th . The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching music, fostering a love for
the arts, and creating a positive and inclusive learning environment. This position involves instructing
students in a variety of musical styles and instruments, preparing them for performances, and supporting
their overall growth as musicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach general music classes for elementary students, including singing, rhythm, and basic music theory.
- Introduce and guide students in the exploration of various musical instruments (e.g., keyboard,percussion, string,).
- Lead school performances, including but not limited to Veteran’s Day Program, Christmas Program, and Spring Program.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate music into broader curriculum themes.
- Assess student progress and provide feedback on their musical development.
- Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes creativity and self-expression.
- Manage classroom materials and ensure the upkeep of music equipment and instruments.
- Work with Gifted and Talented students to provide enrichment.
- Possible intervention duties.
- Supervise and monitor students, both in the classroom and areas outside the classroom, such as cafeteria, playground, media center, field trips, bus/pickup line, etc.
- Attend district and site professional development sessions.
- Support and attend school activities and programs. Follow all district and site policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in elementary education or general music K-12. (Oklahoma State Certification).
- Experience teaching music to elementary-aged children, preferably in a classroom setting.
- Proficiency in multiple musical instruments, including voice, piano, and/or others (instrumental proficiency a plus).
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- A passion for inspiring young students through the arts.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and parents.
