The Project Engineer is responsible for simple to complex utility engineering within Potelco’s distribution and transmission engineering teams . This role incorporates the utilization of various drafting and design programs (PLSCAD/AutoCAD) to create a work product deliverable that meets client standards and specifications . This position is responsible for multiple project designs from client notification and award through project completion.
This pay range for this role is $32-$46/hour, depending on qualifications and expercience.
What You'll Do
- Provides electric utility engineering for operation and maintenance projects. This includes the interpretation and development of distribution designs congruent with utility standards.
- Perform field work in accordance with utility requirements specific to each customer and different work type.
- Read, and understand utility notifications and project scopes of work.
- Interpret utility standards manuals (engineering/construction) to field verify, and design utility systems in accordance with utility standards.
- Utilize AutoCAD to modify and create designs given a specific scope of work for each independent project.
- Collaborate in a team environment to complete projects.
- Provides assistance to the utility engineering team by performing field visits to gather information, as required .
- Active learning and understanding of the work process from inception of job to construction release.
- Performs and completes other duties as assigned or requested.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) in Engineering or three to four years related experience and/or training in lieu of education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience utilizing AutoCAD or other 3D modeling programs
- Ability to be flexible, and highly organized with a strong orientation to detail/quality work
- Candidate must have working knowledge of the project process from inception to construction completion .
- Candidate must be able to fully utilize customer systems such as SAP to track and monitor work flow from customer to Potelco.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and information, journals, technical procedures, and data.
- Ability to write business correspondence and communicate effectively.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from other managers, clients, customers, and local permitting agencies.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as those commonly found in business transactions.
- Ability to create and explain financial models and forecasts.
- Ability to apply basic algebra, geometry, and engineering principals .
- Ability to solve complex problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
