FORESTRY GIS INTERN - ATLANTA, GA, LUMPKIN, GA OR PRATTVILLE, AL

The Forestry GIS Intern will gain hands-on experience in mapping, data analysis, and spatial technology while contributing to PotlatchDeltic projects. Primary purpose will be to assist our Southeast regional districts in collecting, organizing, and correcting geographic data. This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop skills and work on meaningful projects.

The hourly rate of pay for this position is $20.00 per hour.

GIS Data Management

• Create/Modify GIS dataset while maintaining data integrity.
• Data creation, evaluation and QAQC of existing data.
• Ensure data accuracy, completeness and consistency through validation and verification processes.
• Using ESRI topology tools to address data issues.
• Produce solutions to correct spatial data using GIS tools.
  
  

Team Support

• Work with Timberlands staff to develop solutions to solve problems.
• General project assistance for data management.
• Assist in the development of production maps.
• Assist Southeast team with quality control and quality assurance of GIS data.
• Assist in GIS Analysis.
• Assist with special projects as identified by the team.
  
  

Customer Service

• Provide customer service on projects for the foresters in the Southeast.
• Respond to first-level user requests for assistance.
• Assist with the support of the incident tracking system.
  
  

Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited university, preferably in the field of Forestry, GIS or related studies.
• Ability to interact with a diverse user base in a competent and professional manner.
• Willing to participate and interact as part of a geographically diverse team.
• Strong time and project management skills.
• Self-motivated ability to work independently.
• Eagerness to learn and grow in the Key Accountabilities.
