What are the responsibilities and job description for the SAFETY FACILITATOR - WALDO, AR position at PotlatchDeltic?
Participates in the planning, assessment of risk, identification of controls, and monitoring of high-risk activities. Provides functional expertise and support to staff in line with industry best practice and mill management goals. Engages in effective relationships with site personnel to promote a visible and pro-active approach to safety management. Provides a safety support for all safety related training.
The salary range for this position is $48,525.00 - $80,875.00.
The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
Planning and Compliance:
- Record, track and respond to mill observations.
- Participate and assist in the management of the Waldo Plant Wide Safety Team.
- Ensure safety compliance activities and assist each department in finding the necessary items/information to meet all federal, state, and local regulations and requirements.
- Update mill Job Safety and Environmental Analyses (JSEA).
- Ensure change analysis is completed for mill projects.
- Verify Safety Program compliance, as necessary (ISN, etc.)
- Complete all New Hire Safety Orientation training.
- Establish a digital chemical inventory listing for the mill.
Training and Procedures:
- Administer Safety Data Sheets utilizing MSDS online system and new chemical approval process.
- Develop, update and conduct observer training.
- Present process updates to employees.
- Maintain and update mill lockout procedures and ensure proper posting and communication of procedures.
- Administer Safety Incentive Program, reporting necessary information to Supervisors and HR.
- Assist with developing, updating, and presenting new hire and contractor safety training.
- Provide direction and leadership for the computer-based safety programs, develop training matrix, and assist employees as needed.
Incident Investigation and Loss Control:
- Participate in pre-planning meetings with supervisors to identify hazards or risks and develop solutions to prevent potential incidents or injuries.
- Assist with developing action plans based on observation data.
- Participate in safety audits both on-site and company-wide, as needed.
- Assist with the incident investigation, review, and follow-up process.
Requirements:
- Associate Degree in safety or related field required OR a minimum of three years of related experience.
- Basic knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and compliance.
- Knowledge of industrial safety practices and principles including OSHA regulations, environmental compliance, and accident investigation and training.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Detail-oriented.
- Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to multi-task and take ownership of projects with minimal supervision.
