Routinely a top competitor at national tournaments, Potomac Debate Academy's mission is to help students of all ages to find their voice. We take pride in providing high quality debate and public speaking services to students in elementary, middle and high school.
Potomac Debate is hiring for our in-person sleepaway summer camp hosted at the University of Maryland, College Park from July 11 - 19th, 2025. Staff will be expected to be on-campus for the full duration of camp.

Camp staff have the opportunity to work with students who are extremely committed and eager to learn, helping them grow into strong thinkers and communicators. Pay is $1,400 for the full camp session for staff. All travel, housing, and food costs are covered.
Job Description:
We’re seeking enthusiastic, dependable, and organized individuals to join our summer camp team as Resident Assistants (RAs). As an RA, you’ll be at the heart of ensuring our campers have a smooth and enriching experience. Responsibilities include:
- Work closely with other RAs, counselors, and camp staff to create a seamless experience for campers, helping to troubleshoot daily challenges and improve operations.
- Lead or assist with camp activities such as sports, arts and crafts, games, and special events
- Run errands, distribute materials, and help coordinate daily schedules and transitions between activities
- Oversee camper behavior during meals, breaks, and free time, addressing minor issues and reporting concerns as needed
- Serve as a liaison between campers, staff, and camp leadership
- Assist with troubleshooting logistical or camper-related challenges
- Helping foster a welcoming and inclusive camp environment
You're a good fit for this role if you...
- Have graduated HS, or will graduate by July 2025,
- Have previous experience working with children in a camp, school, or similar setting,
- Are friendly, approachable, and capable of handling high-energy environments,
- Can pass a background check,
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the start of camp) is a plus.
