Certified Medical Assistant

Position Duties and Responsibilities:
- Using computer applications in accordance with clinic policies.
- Answering telephones.
- Welcoming patients.
- Updating patient medical records.
- Scheduling patient appointments.
- Assisting the physician during examinations.
- Transmitting prescription refills as directed.
- Explaining treatment procedures to patients.
- Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens.
- Performing basic laboratory tests.
- Instructing patients about medication and special diets.
- Taking electrocardiograms.
- Wound care and changing dressings.
- Perform diagnostic procedures when ordered.
- Preparing and administering medications, including by intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections—including vaccinations/immunizations, as directed by a physician or other licensed provider (e.g., a nurse practitioner or physician assistant)
- Maintain examination room stock levels and perform routine maintenance of examination rooms. Participate in inventory procedures as directed.
- Enter demographic data into the computer upon patient check-in; enter diagnosis and departing time when patient is released.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate from a medical assistant training program accredited by Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) of the American Medical Technologists or a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces.
- Current certification as a medical assistant by the American Association of Medical Assistants or Current registration by the American Medical Technologists or other formal program.
- One year of experience as a Medical Assistant after graduation.
- Shall have practiced service to a patient population that include pediatric, adult and geriatric patients.
- Must be a US Citizen.
