The primary focus of this position is on the Bridge Crew, performing manual labor constructing and repairing bridges. Help us build, repair, and maintain critical infrastructure that connects our community! The reporting location is at the Central Shop; 21901 340th St., Oakland, IA. Employer has the right to change work reporting location. An individual in this position will perform a wide range of semiskilled and skilled work demolishing, constructing, maintaining and repairing County Bridges and Culverts using a variety of techniques and materials. The work is performed under the limited supervision of the Bridge Crew Foreman.ClassificationsThere are three classifications in this job: Bridge Technician I: Certified Rigger. The employee performs a range of bridge maintenance, repair, and construction assignments in a learning capacity. Pay Range: $26.10-$31.02/hr. Bridge Technician II: Crane Operator in Training. The employee performs a range of bridge maintenance, repair, and construction assignments in a developing capacity. Pay Range: $26.86-$31.92/hr. Bridge Technician III: Certified Crane Operator. The employee performs full range of bridge maintenance, repair, and construction assignments in a leadership capacity. Crew equipment may include but is not limited to, dump trucks, skid loaders, loaders, excavators, dozers, and cranes.Proficient in survey and plan reading to facilitate the layout, fabrication and construction of a bridge and culvert components.Observant of field conditions that may jeopardize the safety of the coworkers or public and work to provide a resolution. Examples may include identifying broken plank or structural components, sloughing soils, erosion, deterioration, debris, or other issues that affect the capacity or function of a bridge or culvert.Provides traffic control in construction and maintenance zones or emergency situations.Operates, monitors, repairs, and maintains assigned equipment and vehicles; maintains equipment and vehicle service logs.Performs general buildings and grounds maintenance.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
High school diploma or GED and moderate experience operating medium to heavy equipment and vehicles, performing manual labor.Valid commercial driver's license with Class A and Air Brake endorsement in the State of Iowa.Special Qualifications: All Technicians must obtain Riggers Level 1 Certification within one year of hire.Bridge Technician I: Entry level, no specific type or amount of experience required. Bridge Technician II: Minimum 2 years experience in bridge maintenance work or as a semi-skilled worker in bridge or industrial construction, including the operation of specialized equipment and/ or cranes. Bridge Technician III: Minimum of 4 years experience in bridge maintenance work or as a semi-skilled worker in bridge or industrial construction, including the operation of specialized equipment and/ or cranes. Must obtain and maintain an OSHA approved Crane Operator Certificate.
