Job Summary
The International Shipping Lead is responsible for managing and overseeing daily administrative activities related to logistics to ensure timely, accurate, and cost-effective dispatch and receipt of products, including both domestic and international shipments.
Key Responsibilities
- Order Processing and Scheduling :
- Schedule shipping and receiving based on priority and delivery deadlines.
- Coordinate with customer service and warehouse teams to ensure orders are accurately processed, received, dispatched, and shipped.
- International Shipping Management :
- Manage documentation and compliance specific to international shipping, including customs documentation, commercial invoices, certificates of origin, and import/export licenses.
- Work with customs brokers and/or freight forwarders to facilitate efficient customs clearance for international shipments and address any potential delays or issues.
- Stay up to date on international shipping regulations, tariffs, and requirements for various countries to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
- Documentation and Compliance :
- Prepare and verify shipping documents, such as packing lists, invoices, and bills of lading.
- Ensure shipments comply with company policies, local regulations, and international shipping standards.
- Carrier and Vendor Management :
- Work closely with domestic and international freight carriers and logistics providers to optimize delivery schedules.
- Data Entry and Reporting :
- Maintain accurate shipping records and logs in the ERP management system.
- Generate and analyze shipping metrics and reports to support management decisions and improve operational efficiency.
Job Qualifications
- Education : High school diploma or GED required
- Experience : Previous experience in shipping, logistics, or a related field; specific experience with international shipping requirements, customs documentation, and compliance.
- Skills :
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication skills for effective coordination with internal teams, external vendors, and international partners.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and data entry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ERP systems.
- Knowledge of international shipping regulations and familiarity with customs processes is strongly preferred.
- This role typically operates within a warehouse setting and may require extended periods of standing, lifting, and walking.
- Reports to Outbound Supervisor
- 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday 9:00 am – 5:30 pm.
- Ability to work OT as needed
