The Job:
Beyond the day-to-day responsibilities listed below, we are looking for a leader that is passionate about the art of maturing whiskey. The right person will possess the unique skill set of inventory management while understanding the ultimate end game is to satisfy the customer. This role will give you the unique opportunity to build the team you will be responsible for leading. You will report directly to the General Manager and work daily with ownership to set goals, create strategies and allocate resources that will ensure success across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage a barrel inventory control system designed to determine product handling and storage requirements for present and future needs
- Oversee warehouse team training and scheduling to ensure no disruption of distillery operations and to achieve short- and long-term performance goals
- Review and prepare action plans that meet company standards for productivity specific to daily/weekly entry of barrels into the warehouse
- Perform barrel samples required by the quality/blending department
- Develop a system for routine leak detection audits to ensure no major liquid loss from barrels and to track/measure liquid recovery
- Coordinate with distillery operations the changeover of daily cistern tanks and manage the cutting of distillate to proper barrel entry proof
- Create successful relationships with barrel suppliers to ensure the proper allocation of barrels accordingly to the daily filling schedule
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing standards and procedures and by complying with legal regulations
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent years of work-related experience
· Minimum of 5 years distilled spirits experience with significant management and leadership experience in an operational and/or specialist environment
· Proficient computer skills with experience utilizing electronic mail software, time accounting software, project management software, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PLC applications
· Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
