What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Technician I position at Potters Industries Inc?
The Production Technician I performs tasks to ensure the packaging requirements of the finished product lines are met in accordance with the plant production schedule and other established operating parameters/performance measures. Also performs additional duty assignments as required/tasked.
Shift Availability
- Rotating shift (Example: 6AM – 6PM, 6PM -6AM or 7AM-7PM, 7PM -7AM
- Shift typically ranges 12 hours, depending on the plant volume.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: $22.01/hour
- Weekly pay

Key Responsibilities
- Operates all processes in a safe manner and with HSE rules and regulations
- Sets up, prepares and monitors machines/equipment used for packaging.
- Operates equipment such Robot/Palletizer, heat sealer, sifters and other equipment required to perform duties
- Completes all Production Technician duties to fulfill production needs
- Performs Bagging up 50-pound bags of product
- Performs Bulk Sack Filling
- Performs Pail and Drum Filling
- Stacking of Bags and Pails 50#
- Re-work (cut bags, boxes, s/s and re-work into process, re-stack as needed
- Help with Discard Dust
- Safely operates sweepers, forklifts, scales and bander
- Pulls WIP as needed
- Close up (band and heat seal and final QC Inspection (packaging)
- Maintain Packaging Supply Room with good housekeeping duties
- Communication and coordination with Quality Control (e.g. labeling, Lot numbers, product codes, spec compliance, etc.)
- Required daily documentation and inspections
- Set up to packaging printers, robot programs, etc.
- Loads and Unloads Trucks
- Participates in HSE activities
- Additional duties assigned by Manager, as needed.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Post High School Technical School or College a Plus
Experience:
- 1 to 3 years of Manufacturing Environment Experience preferred
- 1 to 3 Years Forklift operations and/or certification
Skills/Knowledge:
- Automated equipment – a plus
- Ability to use computer - basic computer skills
- Basic Math Skills
- Works well with others - Good Team Work skills
- Strong Work Ethics
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Detailed and Organizational Skills
Working Environment & Physical Demands
- Plant environment with high heat temperatures
- Ability to lift and move 50 lbs., walk, stand, bend, twist, push, and squat throughout the workday
- Must be able to hear and respond to machinery alarms and sounds
