What are the responsibilities and job description for the QA Lab Technician position at Potters Industries Inc?
This position pays $23.00 per hour Wednesday through Saturday hours are 5:00a.m. – 3:30p.m.
- Operates in compliance with all health, safety and environmental rules and regulations.
- Samples production lots/batches and certifies that material meets the intended product specification.
- Performs a variety of established test procedures to measure physical characteristics of finished product. These tests may include but are not limited to roundness, gradation, coating performances and index of refraction.
- Utilizing a variety of testing equipment including but not limited to microfiche, round-o-meter, sieves, and microscope.
- Maintaining and calibrating test equipment and ensuring that appropriate test equipment is certified by outside agencies per various requirements.
- Conducts audits of quality measures and procedures.
- Identifies off-spec production and ensures that this material is quarantined and/or reworked.
- Aid in investigating customer complaints and customer returns to identify root causes and necessary corrective actions.
- Certifying or approving all material that ships from the facility.
- Understands that safe work practices is a condition of employment and is actively engaged in activities such as identifying hazard ID’s and assisting in updating work procedures.
- Being fluent in basic lab procedures and proficient in working safely with lab chemicals by utilizing MSDS’s, proper protective equipment and good lab judgment.
- Performs housekeeping duties.
- Participates in plant-wide HSE, quality and productivity initiatives.
- Participates on the Safety Committee on a voluntary rotating basis.
- Participates in HSE activities (i.e., Toolbox meetings, monthly plant audits, accident investigations, Hazard IDs, etc.).
- Performs special projects or other duties as directed.
Minimum Requirements
- High school education or equivalent and/or can demonstrate good math and reading skills.
- Post high school education desired
- 1 to 3 years of Quality Assurance Lab Experience in a Manufacturing Environment
- 1 to 3 years forklift operations and/or certification preferred
