About the Content Team
Williams‑Sonoma, Inc. is the premier specialty, multi-channel retailer of home furnishings and gourmet in the United States. The Creative Team at Williams Sonoma is made up of designers, art directors, writers cookware, social media experts, content creators and visual merchandisers who bring the Williams Sonoma brand to life across all channels and engage with our customers at every touch point. Within that, the Content Team manages organic social, video, editorial, and copy—that’s where you come in.
About the Role
The Senior Copywriter will help establish and maintain brand voice and bring it to life through copy across all marketing communications include website, catalog, retail, social, email, and packaging. The successful candidate will be both a strategic brand strategist and an excellent writer. S / he will undertake projects as well as manage and edit other writers. This position reports to the Director, Content.
Responsibilities
- Editorial / Content Page Planning Work with creative partners, including Executive Creative Director and writers to establish needs for each season Work cross-functionally with Merchants, Product Development and Product Information teams to ensure all copy is accurate and compelling Collaborate with Creative, Content, and Brand Marketing teams each season to translate high-level campaigns into editorial, content-driven pages for website Participate in campaign and content brainstorms Outline content pages that can support key product initiatives and collaborations; these may include collection launch content, quotes, actionable tips, how-to guides, and more. Develop briefs describing these pages for the Site and Creative teams to guide design and development
- SEO Integration Collaborate with SEO and site teams to identify topic opportunities each season Align SEO-driven topic opportunities to planned content pages Incorporate SEO best practices throughout copy while also balancing brand voice
- Brand Voice Management Drive brand forward with a fresh and approachable voice Create and maintain brand voice and style guides Keep a pulse on the competitive landscape & how other brands are approaching tone and voice across catalog, website, social, and email Regularly update the content team on how the landscape is evolving
- Copywriting Maintain the highest editorial standards for all copy and ensure that it conforms to the evolving brand voice Write upper-level creative copy for all brand communications—specifically website, retail graphics, catalog, and occasionally social and packaging—and ensure that voice and marketing messages are consistent across all channels and align with overall brand strategy Work closely with graphic designers in writing all editorial, headlines and taglines for marketing communications Work with creative partners to ensure all editorial copy, headlines, taglines and home page content are inspirational and compelling Track revisions, manage and obtain approvals for all writing assignments

The expected starting pay range for this position is $85,000 - $90,000 annually. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. In addition to competitive pay, compensation may include a variety of other components like benefits, paid time off, merit, and bonus opportunities.
