What are the responsibilities and job description for the High School Assistant Baseball Coach position at Pottsgrove High School?
Pottsgrove High School is seeking an Assistant Baseball Coach. The successful candidate will provide a learning environment that allows players to learn new skills and reinforce established skills to improve. An assistant coach of each sport has the responsibility of carrying on the sport in the best interest of the school district by adhering to the policies and regulations of the Pottsgrove Board of Directors, as well as the practices and procedures of the school administration. Further, an assistant coach should have a working knowledge of Pottsgrove School District and the rules and regulations of the Pottsgrove Athletic Department, Pioneer Athletic Conference and the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA). Candidate must have a firm knowdlege of interscholastic baseball. Candidate must be available Monday-Friday from 2:30pm-5:30pm and on a few Saturdays.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate skill development, program philosophy, and equipment management.
- Coordinate and conduct schedules for practice and competitions.
- Collect participant information, including school physicals and emergency forms.
- Conduct daily practice and coaching duties for the team.
- Travel with, and supervise, the team during games.
- Maintain and distribute equipment and uniforms for the season; collect uniforms and equipment at the end of the year.
- Supervise students on the bus and in the locker area at the end of the day.
- Record and report serious athletic injuries to students.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma is necessary
- Knowledge of baseball rules and skills required
- Submission of pre-employment medical examination (Section 148 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
- Submission of a report of criminal history record from the Pennsylvania State Police (Section 111 of the Pennsylvania School Code) Nonresidents and Pennsylvania residents who have not resided in the Commonwealth for at least two years prior to the date of application for employment are required to obtain an FBI Criminal History Record
- Submission of a clearance report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in accordance with Act 151 of 1994
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to reach above and below the waist
- Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects
- Some crouching, crawling, stooping, kneeling, bending, and twisting of the body required
- Ability to lift and/or carry supplies and/or papers weighing no more than 20 lbs.
- Ability to mostly walk throughout the work environment with some standing or sitting
