What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle School Girls Lacrosse Head Coach position at Pottsgrove Middle School?
Pottsgrove Middle School is currently seeking a head coach for girls lacrosse. The successful candidate will instill a basic understanding of the fundamentals of the game and teach team spirit and a positive attitude. Candidate must have a firm underdanding of lacrosse. It is preferred that candidate has coached interscholastic sports in the secondary level. Candidate must be available Monday-Friday from 3:00pm to 5:15pm.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate skill development, program philosophy, and equipment management.
- Supervise the overall program of the middle school lacrosse program.
- Issue and collect equipment at the beginning and end of the season.
- Ensure that transportation is present daily to pick up the athletes and transport them to the practice field..
- Review absentee list daily to verify that all students attending practice were in school during the school day.
- Provide eligibility lists, name and position roster, and emergency and physicals forms to the Athletic Director and Middle School faculty manager; maintain a copy of emergency cards at all practices and games.
- Ensure that all players return their equipment; provide listing to the Athletic Director for those failing to comply.
- Provide a listing of owed equipment to the school office in order to pay appropriate fines as needed.
- Maintain and provide game records and other end-of-the-season reports to the Athletic Director.
- Provide recommendation for purchases necessary for the upcoming season.
- Develop plans and schedules for regular programs and practices during the playing season.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma is necessary
- Experience in the game of lacrosse is required
- Submission of pre-employment medical examination (Section 148 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
- Submission of a report of criminal history record from the Pennsylvania State Police (Section 111 of the Pennsylvania School Code) Nonresidents and Pennsylvania residents who have not resided in the Commonwealth for at least two years prior to the date of application for employment are required to obtain an FBI Criminal History Record
- Submission of a clearance report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in accordance with Act 151 of 1994
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to reach above and below the waist
- Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects
- Some crouching, crawling, stooping, kneeling, bending, and twisting of the body required
- Ability to lift and/or carry supplies and/or papers weighing no more than 20 lbs.
