Key Responsibilities:
- Review project specifications, blueprints, and contract documents to understand project requirements.
- Conduct on-site visits to assess project scope, identify potential challenges, and gather necessary information for accurate estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to obtain input and clarification on project specifications.
- Analyze project plans and specifications to determine the materials, labor, equipment, and timeline required for each project phase.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical services, including materials, labor, subcontractors, permits, and any other relevant project expenses.
- Utilize estimating software and tools to ensure accurate calculations and consistent documentation of estimates.
- Provide detailed and clear written and verbal explanations of cost breakdowns, assumptions, and exclusions in the estimates.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to obtain competitive pricing and ensure availability of materials and services.
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends, market conditions, and pricing fluctuations to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.
- Collaborate with the sales team to review estimates, answer client questions, and participate in client presentations as needed.
- Participate in bid review meetings, value engineering sessions, and project hand-off meetings to ensure a smooth transition from estimation to project execution.
- Assist with contract negotiations and provide input on pricing strategies to maximize profitability.
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, revisions, and project-specific documentation.
- Adhere to company policies, industry standards, and legal requirements related to estimating and bidding processes.
- Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring clear and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other team members to share knowledge, best practices, and lessons learned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Commercial Estimator , with expertise in estimating HVAC, plumbing, and electrical services for commercial projects.
- In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in using estimating software and tools, such as RSMeans, Bluebeam, or similar applications.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to interpret complex project specifications and produce accurate estimates.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and communicate complex concepts to clients.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in estimating and documentation.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications.
- Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically in analyzing project requirements and constraints.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to project sites as required.
