NOTICE OF POSITION
POSITION :
The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Eric Jay Rosser, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of :
MAINTENANCE MECHANIC HVAC (PLUMBING AND HEATING)
POUGHKEEPSIE CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT
QUALIFICATIONS :
One (1) year of experience at the journeyman level in the plumbing and heating trade.
DUTIES :

The following is indicative of the level and types of activities performed by incumbents in this title. It is not meant to be all inclusive and does not preclude a supervisor from assigning activities not listed which could reasonably be expected to be performed by an employee in this title.
- Supervises and / or performs skilled repairs to plumbing, steam lines, water lines, boilers, sewage ejection systems, etc.;
- Maintains and repairs central heating systems;
- Makes inspections of property to ascertain repair needs;
- Estimates materials required for repairs;
- May keep daily time and material records;
- Performs miscellaneous repairs to and installs a variety of equipment related to plumbing and heating systems;
- Performs other tasks from time to time as required;
- Does related work as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
This class involves a variety of building maintenance and repair tasks. Although employees in this class, by reason of personal training and experience, generally devote most of their time to work in the
specialized fields of plumbing and heating, they may occasionally work along various mechanical lines. The duties of this class differ from Maintenance Worker by reason of the more skilled nature of the work
involved. Incumbents perform their duties with wide latitude for independent planning or laying out of the working details. In those cases where supervisory responsibilities are involved, the Maintenance
Mechanic acts as foreman over a number of workers who perform maintenance and repair jobs of a less skilled nature.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES :
APPOINTMENT :
Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be conducted where appropriate.
SALARY :
Between $54,212 - $62,273 CSEA
