We are seeking a dedicated and organized Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing various administrative tasks within a clinical setting. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office and supporting the overall patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Schedule and confirm appointments, ensuring efficient use of clinic resources.
- Manage patient records and maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Process patient intake forms and verify insurance information.
- Handle phone inquiries, directing calls as necessary and providing information about services offered.
- Prepare new patient charts and follow-up documentation for patients.
- Maintain office supplies and equipment, ensuring a well-organized workspace.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to facilitate patient care and communication.
- Utilize electronic health record systems such as Athenahealth.
- Perform clerical duties such as filing, faxing, and scanning documents.
- Work on patient referrals to ensure benchmarks are met for utilization.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar clerical role within a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Proficient in using electronic health record systems; experience with Athenahealth is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to perform 10 key typing accurately for data entry tasks.
- Knowledge of office management principles and practices within a clinical context.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in medical administration is an advantage.
