JOB SUMMARY:

The Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic II performs inspections, repairs and maintenance on vehicles in Monarch’s fleet, to include snowcats, snowmobiles, loaders, passenger vehicles…etc., as well as some metal fabrications and welding with minimal supervision, and is able to offer guidance to other mechanics with less Monarch experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
The Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic 2 responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Be an effective employee within the guidelines of department and company policies, procedures and values, in fulfillment of Monarch’s mission statement to “provide our guests with a quality, personalized mountain experience.”
- Work in conjunction with other employees and departments as part of the Monarch team.
- Perform the inspection, repair and maintenance of vehicles in Monarch's fleet, including passenger vehicles, snowcats, snowmobiles, loaders…etc., as assigned and with minimal supervision.
- Ensure that all inspection logs and other checklists are legible, updated and current.
- Inform the manager of shop supplies needed for reorder.
- Maintain a good working knowledge of shop and safety procedures, to include housekeeping.
- Communicate with equipment operators in other departments in identifying and clarifying equipment issues.
- Oversee Mechanic 1 work and provide guidance and training as necessary.
- Diagnose major repairs as necessary, and decide with the Supervisor if repairs can be done in-house or outsourcing is required.
- Perform major in-house repairs.
- Oversee daily operations of shop in the absence of the Supervisor; to include ordering supplies as needed.
- Perform welding and fabrications projects as needed.

- Is flexible with hours and days of work. Can work any hours during the business day including mornings, evenings or split shifts, and any days of the week (including weekends and holidays)
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum age: 21
- Legal citizen of the United States or possess other proper work permit authentication.
- A valid driver’s license and good, company insurable driving record required.
- High School Diploma or GED required, college degree preferred.
- Knowledge and skills in welding, metal fabrications, electronic or electrical and mechanical components required.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Previous experience and/or schooling in diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic systems or knowledge of ski area machines and operations.
- Ability to push, lift, and move up to 90 lbs.
- Requires bending, stretching, reaching, grasping, shoveling and operating hand and power tools.
- Includes exposure to oils and chemicals (see JHAs).
- Requires driving vehicles and heavy equipment, and travel.
- Requires working at high elevation (up to 12,000’), with extended exposure to adverse weather conditions, such as severe cold, heavy snowfall, rain, strong winds and intense sun.
JOB TYPE: Year Round, Full Time
