What are the responsibilities and job description for the Woodward Park City Summer Lead Coach position at POWDR?

The Summer Action Sports Lead applicant will motivate and educate our coaches in various Summertime action sports. The summer camp Lead works directly with coaches and promotes inclusivity in action sports by providing safe, enjoyable, and practical training and sometimes direct instruction to guests. They should be skilled in teaching youth and creating skill-based progressions for various ability levels. Safety, fun, and progression in innovative environments are always top priorities.

Prerequisites
To meet our commitment to deliver a safe and positive experience to our younger guests, we require the following as a condition of employment:

Essential duties & responsibilities:
- Lead by example for your team by following all policies and procedures
- Solve guests' complaints/issues in a professional and appropriate manner
- Provide timely and relevant information to supervisors and managers related to injuries, behavior issues, and ideas for improvement
- Provide direct feedback and education to coaches
- Leading and documenting staff meetings and safety topics
- Understand beginner teaching progressions for at least two action sports
- Lead safety training in all areas of the HUB and outdoor areas
- Create lesson plans and skill progressions when needed
- Proactively engage with coaches and participants at all times
- Be active in attending coaching clinics and leading clinics in their area of expertise
- Clean and maintain all Woodward Park City facilities, including foam pits, skateparks, etc.
Preferred Skills:
- Leadership or supervisory experience.
- 2 years of experience in related fields.
- First Aid/CPR Certification.
- Sport-specific certification (PSIA/AASI/PMBIA/USAG/USASA, etc.), SafeSport certification, and CDC Heads Up concussion certification.
- Comfortable working at heights and occasionally in confined spaces.
- Proven ability to collaborate within a team and across departments
- Public speaking skills
Requirements:
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and aptitude for learning scheduling software applications
- Physical Capabilities: bend, twist, push, pull, stand, lift 50 lbs.
- Passionate about teaching kids action sports
- Strong communication skills
- Must be able to stand for extended periods
- Must be comfortable working in an indoor and outdoor all-season environment
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings
- Due to the sensitive nature of this position, a criminal background check will be conducted after the position is accepted
